The mat is made of a soft vinyl and the chair casters sink into the surface, creating depressions in the surface of the mat, thus preventing the chair from moving. Unaware of this, (I did not find a caution about this aspect of the product in the description), I purchased the product, then unhappily had to pay to return it, only to be charged by the supplier for the shipping to me PLUS a restocking fee. When I attempted to protest the restocking fee (although I'm not happy about it, I can understand paying the shipping charges both ways), I found myself corresponding with either a robot or a human with little understanding of the english language. Very frustrating, I won't deal with this vendor again.

(More customer reviews)My 'computer desk' at home consists of one of those 8 foot folding tables. The distance between both legs of the table is about 72 inches, but the longest chair mat I could find in local office supply stores was 60 inches. For this reason, I went looking online for one that was at least 70 inches.
I saw several 72 inch chair mats here on Amazon, but most of them were of the bamboo variety. And the reviews for those were very hit or miss, and they were kind of pricey too. Plus, what I really wanted was just your average, 'garden variety' chair mat, but just a little bigger than usual.
That's when I ran across this chair mat. There were no reviews for it, but I decided to take a gamble and order it anyway. The mat arrived today, and turned out to be just what I needed. And best of all, even though it's not eligible for Amazon Prime, they did not charge me anything to ship it. On the downside though, it took them a couple of weeks to send it off.
As the product description states, there is no lip on mine, which is fine by me. I'm hoping it won't start to crack any time soon (I'm using it on carpet), and if it does, I'll update this review. So far though, it's perfect!

First, it is 3/4" high and could possibly be in the way of a door on a desk unit. You'll end up removing the door as we did. Second, it may cause the arms on a desk chair to hit a slide out keyboard shelf on a desk unit.
Again, this is a quality product. We are very satisfied with it after buying numerous plastic chair mats over the years. Just make sure it will fit in your application.
