The padding in the seat and back are wonderful. The seat is 19 1/2" wide, so it's meant for people of different sizes. I didn't need the width, but I like the extra cushioning at the edge of my thighs. Additionally, the back adjusts up and down to find the best area for lumbar support. The back is also well-formed so that it cups your spine from the left to the right of your back - great for even more support on those long days.
The foot rest was a plus for me because I'm short from the waist down. However, I think it would be great for even my 6'4" husband.
The leather is soft and seems durable (time will tell). I did get some dirt on the seat because I used the cardboard of the box to protect the leather against damage from my floor. The seat wiped clean with a damp cloth. Another great plus!
As for assembly:
I did not read the foot rest directions before starting installation of the chair parts above the hydraulic lift. So, I had to take it apart and start from the wheel base up (My fault!). Just make sure you look at ALL the directions before starting.
My only difficulty in assembly was getting the height extender through the footrest. It was a VERY tight fit and I needed a rubber mallet to push to the half-way point that the directions suggest. After I figured that out, the rest was super easy!
Other than the rubber mallet, no additional tools are needed. An allen wrench is provided.
My only negative is that there were a few spots of rust on the underside of the footrest and on the extender. Neither is visible based on the way the chair is assembled, but I was a little disappointed since it's new.
Overall, a great chair!!!!!
