(More customer reviews)The difference between the 650 and the 651 is that the 650 has a plastic base and the 651 has an aluminum base. I broke the plastic base on my old chair, so I ordered a 651. But the aluminum base raises the chair an inch or two, plus I use hardwood floor casters that have big, soft wheels that raise the chair another inch or two, so the combination resulted in a chair too tall to fit under my desk. Luckily the next day I found a chair on the street with a plastic base and broken casters, so I swapped bases and now my chair is the right height. (I also found the owner of the chair on the street, fixed her chair with the casters from the 651, and she's coming over to pick up her chair.)
Otherwise, the 650/651 is a perfectly good mid-back chair. You can't put your head back and sleep in it, but I don't sleep on the job. :-) The lumbar support is adjustable, you adjust the tilt, and adjust the height (although it'll never go as low as some other chairs). I'm 5'10" so the height is good. The chair is too wide for me (I weigh 160 lbs) but this isn't a problem. In terms of styling, I wanted a low-price knock-off Herman Miller Aeron. The 650/651 looks sort of Aeron-ish, in a minimalist way. I ordered gray, and the box is marked gray, but the chair is black. All in all, a good chair at a good price.
