Working at a desk which was formerly a kitchen counter-top can become a real problem when every desk chair you find is a foot lower than it needs to be. Also, due to their specific nature, many drafting stools are expensive and rarely come with arm-rests. This particular stool was really the only option I could find after scouring the internet and my local stores. The height is extensively adjustable and the quality is superior compared to the items cost. My only complaint is that the column on which the chair sits seems relatively weak for the amount of torque which can be put on it due to its height. I have not had any problems with it yet, but I am fairly certain that it will be the first part on the chair to break. Also, assembly of the chair is fairly intensive and the directions are not the most thorough. Some components once assembled can be nearly impossible to disassemble, so make sure that you figure things out before you start piecing it together.
All in all, I would still recommend this chair enthusiastically. It exceeded my expectations and has served its function very well so far.
